PALEO f(x) 2017 Review + Products

My Take on Trends

There are so many dietary preferences nowadays ranging from Paleo, Vegan, Vegetarian, Raw, Fruitarian to Breatharian (yes, it’s actually a thing).

I personally believe in bio-individuality, which means that one way of eating, living, and exercising cannot possibly fit every human on the planet. We are all different with unique dietary needs, blood types, habits and ancestral backgrounds. So, after years of researching and trying on pretty much every dietary approach, I finally let go of the labels and eat more intuitively and seasonally. I take nuggets from every approach and create something that works specifically for me and my clients.

As a Health Coach, I love staying on top of latest research in health and nutrition and report back to you, so take from this review what you will and I hope you find it informative.

What is Paleo Anyway?

If you are not familiar with Paleo movement, in a nutshell it is taking the best from our ancestors and adding the latest and greatest of the 21st Century.

The Paleo diet strives to get as close as possible to the way we ate back in the day. That means you can eat anything you could hunt or gather: clean unprocessed foods like leafy greens, grass-fed meat, wild-caught fish, nuts, high quality fats, pastured free-range poultry, eggs, and small amount of fruits. Sugar, pastries, pasta, candy, or processed food are obviously not part of the menu.

Paleo f(x) is a 3 day immersion event that takes place here in sunny Austin TX every year. It is the largest Paleo health event and one of the largest holistic health events in the world.

The event is led by cutting edge health practitioners, scientists in many fields, health coaches, bestselling authors, biohackers, chefs and more. This year it featured multiple stages with an array of keynote presentations from Dr. Josh Axe, Dr. David Perlmutter, Dr. Chris Kresser, Dave Asprey, Mark Sisson, Abel James and many more.

There were so many products featured at conference, but I am going to highlight a few personal favorites that I've put to the test and stand behind.

Chocolate is my drug of choice :)

You see, chocolate got a bad reputation because of low quality ingredients and loads of unnecessary sugar, but dark chocolate can have so many health benefits!

This company goes to great lengths to create the best tasting chocolate with some of the purest, fairly sourced, non-GMO, organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free ingredients. Coconut Sugar is used for sweetness, a healthy and low glycemic alternative to cane sugar or high fructose corn syrup. And, did I mention that all bars are blessed by unicorns :)? Always a plus in my book!

Love their chocolate and highly recommend giving it a try.

Is it Expensive? Yes! Is it worth it? 100% hell yes!

Hallelujah!! Finally, salad dressing that is not full of junk!

These are exceptionally tasty and nutrient-dense condiments, dressings/marinades, avocado oils, collagen protein bars and protein shakes. All products are made with minimal whole food ingredients, natural fats, clean proteins and antioxidants. No artificial colors, flavors, fillers, synthetic seed oil, or trans fats.

I’ve been using their avocado oil mayo for a long time but got a chance to sample the rest of their line at the conference and let me tell you – those products are fantastic!

Super stoked a bout this gluten-free and grain-free "flour" by Guiltless Superfoods!

No starches, grains, corn, soy, yeast, or anything that usually triggers sensitive guts. This flour blend is made only from seeds: hemp, pumpkin, chia, golden flax, sunflower, sesame and poppy.

It can be used it in place of regular flour to make cookies, cakes, brownies, muffins, pancakes, waffles, and tortillas. I had a chance to put this mix to the test and created super flexible, moist, and delicious tortillas. Love!

Bulletproof coffee has gotten super popular in the last few years and I must say – I am a big fan. I made a YouTube video a few months ago on 2 ways of making this concoction so if you are interested, check it out here.

My issue with Bulletproof coffee is that it’s not travel friendly. I use good quality organic coffee beans, grinder, coffee maker, and Vitamix to make mine every morning along with brain octane oil and homemade almond milk. You can see how that could get complicated while traveling :)

I discovered Fat Fuel Coffee during conference and was very skeptical until I tasted it. It consists of Grass-Fed Butter Powder (their manufacturing team figured out a way to turn it into powder), Himalayan salt, Coconut & MCT Oil Powder, and Instant Organic Coffee.

I still prefer grinding my own coffee and making everything from scratch whenever possible, but it is a great option for traveling. If you want effortless, delicious cup of coffee that gives energy without jitters and keeps you satiated for hours, give it a shot.

My only issue is that is contains a small amount of sugar (naturally occurring, not added). But then again, way better choice than a cup of coffee from Starbucks in my opinion.

BOTTOM LINE

This was my first PALEO f(x) event and I am definitely coming back next year!

The thing is, you can spend months or even years researching different diets, supplements, and ingredients but it is so much more effective to immerse yourself in full 3 days on hands-on learning!

The best part?

There is something truly special about meeting all these people in person, being a part of community of like-minded folks who are striving to make this world a better place. Love technology and the ability to catch parts of these conferences remotely, but there is nothing like being there in person and learning from the best experts in the field. So inspiring!
